Production
Our production sites all operate to high standards of quality assurance. Each one is independently audited to ISO-9001 and some also hold accreditation to BRC standards.
Pom-Bear
These delicious teddy shaped potato snacks are made from mixing together potato powder, water, starches and salt. The resulting dough is rolled out flat and the teddy shapes are cut out using a big roller. These then travel along a conveyor belt as they are dried. Afterwards the Pom-Bears are fried carefully in a quality sunflower oil blend which makes them nice and crisp before we add the flavour. Once they are really tasty the little bears are foil wrapped to keep them fresh for you to enjoy.
Mr Mash
Specially selected high quality potatoes are washed and the skins carefully removed using brushes. After steam cooking the potatoes are mashed and then dried on massive rollers to create the dried flakes of potato. Careful attention is paid to each stage of production to ensure the product meets exacting standards. In order to keep the flakes as fresh as possible they are wrapped in foil sachets in a protective atmosphere without the need for any preservatives.
Penn State Pretzels
Intersnack are the only manufacturer of pretzels in the UK. We not only produce the classic salted pretzel but also a range of flavoured pretzels. Here’s how:
- The ingredients are mixed to produce a light fluffy dough
- The dough drops into a hopper and is then pressed though a shaped die to form the classic pretzel knots
- The pretzel knots are dipped in a mild soda solution to achieve their nice shiny shell and then enter the oven to be baked
- Then knots travel through a drier to remove any moisture so the pretzel is nice and crunchy
- If the pretzel is flavoured they go through a large drum where the flavour is added
- Finally the pretzels are weighed into bags and packed into cartons to send out to the shops
